Digging Potatoes

A little break from wedding stuff!  We took a few days to sneak away to the Oregon Coast with Chemyn and Louise.  Before we left we took an afternoon to get the potatoes out of the ground and in to the cellar.  The good news......we're not going to starve this winter.  Another bumper crop of potatoes out of the Rolinco Road garden!

A gorgeous afternoon last week to dig potatoes.

It helps to have a good digger to lift the spuds!

The Yukon Gold variety produced extremely well this year.

As did the red Pontiac variety.  The russets weren't so great.  They  never are.  I think my soil is too heavy.

Baxter supervised the potato digging in the warm sun.

Calendula blooming brightly in the bee garden.

And my favorite color marigold at the base of one of the grape vines.

A bin of red potatoes....

and a bin of Yukon Gold.
