September sky

This late afternoon in to early evening, the clouds were so dramatic.  It's a treat to be on the tractor on days like this.  It's one of the few places that you can get work done and keep a close eye on what is going on around you in the sky!

I stopped a few times to snap some photos.

Thunder heads were building for a couple hours this afternoon.

Right before sunset, there was lots of color in the eastern sky as well as the west.

Right as the sun set, a few drops of rain fell.  The sun shining through the clouds and the rain drops on my tractor cab were so pretty.

Field side assistance

Yesterday I was mowing stubble and noticed that my tractor was losing power when I needed to pull up a hill.  It did not do that the day before, so I called the Rolinco Road mechanics and they immediately came to my rescue with new fuel filters!  So nice to have people on staff that know what to do, how to do it, and when it needs to be done!!

Rolinco Road mechanics arrive on scene.

Apprentice mechanic Alicia getting instructions on fuel filter removal.

First filter coming off....

and now going back on.

Both filters changed and dated, complete with a smiley face!

Like all mechanic work, an invoice was presented for me to sign for services rendered.

It was a gorgeous day.  I kind of hated to be on the tractor, but since I was, I enjoyed watching the changing clouds all day.  So pretty.

This is what the mower looks like from ground level.  The straw is very thick again this year, which is a good thing!

A perfect fall day

It rained this week, almost 3/4 of an inch here at our house.  We went nearly 90 days with out rain, so you might imagine how refreshing this was.

A few days ago there were remnants of the rain clouds, dark soil soaking up the moisture and happy green wheat.  There is a lot of really beautiful scenery in this world, and I admit to having seen only the tiniest sampling, but right now, at this time of the year, what I get to look at each and every day, is my favorite!

This blank row is what happens when you have a plugged hose on your drill.  This problem was fixed after Alicia and I changes all the hoses on my drill!

Look at the residue between the rows.   This will eventually turn in to soil.  In the meantime, it will hold moisture, cool the soil in the hot summer months and help prevent erosion.

Three images of the sunset, because I couldn't pick just one that was my favorite!

This coming week Alicia and I will be switching off on the tractor to start mowing the stubble that is left over from harvest.  It's a fun job, one I love doing, because when you are done, everything looks so neat and tidy!

The Hole

Dad was feeling extra good for this fishing trip,  so it was decided that on Saturday we would hike down in to "the hole", dad's favorite place to fish.  It's a steep and in places, dicey climb down and up, but well worth the effort.  The scenery was breath taking, dad was so pleased to be in his favorite spot, and we were equally as pleased to to share this experience with him.  Plus, this is the place where the only two fish of the trip were caught, by team Funk!  David and Roni Jo each caught a fish.

Such a beautiful smile this happy child has!

Victory!

Alicia in the hole!

It is so beautiful and rugged.

Roni with the catch!!

The St. Joe river is catch and release.  The hooks used are barbless so they are easy to remove and the fish is easily released.

So excited!!!!
Watching the fisherman in the river.
Making the hike back up the mountain.

This shows how steep the terrain was in places.

But so pretty.

Taking a rest break!

This is where we were.

And this is where we ended up!  Happy to be back up on top but even more thrilled to have been down at the bottom.
