4th of July party

One week ago today, we hosted a part on the 4th of July!  The usual suspects were present. Wonderful food, lots of laughs, (mostly centered around the play that we did), and a rousing game of Yard Yatzee.

Lunch time!

The play we did came from McCall's Magazine, published in 1910.  It was meant to be performed by kindergarten children, but there being none available, we had to do it ourselves.  We had costumes, props and a script!  There were a few long suffering sighs by certain players, but in the end, everyone participated and it was hilariously entertaining!

After the play, we were famished and needed more food of course!  I took a few photos of the picnic table setting, but since I was so hungry, I scarfed down my food before I remembered to take a photo! Just imagine potato salad, fresh green salad made with greens from Beth's garden, grilled chicken drumsticks and a green been and cucumber salad dressed with oil and vinegar and a Chemyn cake for dessert!  Oh man!!!

A little closer look.

Chemyn and the cake!

Isn't it festive?  And it tasted even better than it looked!!!

Kinda started to fall apart once many pieces were cut and consumed.  No matter, it was just as tasty for breakfast the next morning!
Yard Yatzee was an idea found on Pinterest.  It's just like regular Yatzee, only you roll giant dice, made from four by four pieces of lumber, painted like dice.  Beth did the painting of the dice and they turned out super cool.  Yard Yatzee is fraught with "leaners", that is to say, that the dice don't always land flat.  This can cause some, or even a great deal of arguing about if it was a six or a three!

And to finish the day, another beautiful sunset.  Happy Independence Day!
