A few days ago we had our first spring day! It was fleeting, lasting only two days, but it gave us hope that spring had not forgotten about us!
We finished spraying our winter wheat crop on Saturday and now are waiting for the weather to cooperate so that we can do the summer fallow ground. We started this morning but were rained out by 1:30. No matter, we both found things to do that needed to be done!

Here comes my spray boy! |
He leaves quite a track in the wheat, but somehow, it recovers. |
The winter wheat is beginning to perk up some. The snow mold damage is still quite evident in all our fields.
The lighter color, is the snow mold damage. |
More snow mold damage. |
This is a happy, healthy plant grouping. |

A closer look at the damaged wheat. |

And a closer look at happy wheat! |
Because of the cool and damp weather, the flowering bulbs, such as tulips and daffodils, are holding their bloom for quite a long time. The sweet cherry trees, apricot, and plum have decided that they can't put off their bloom any longer. The honey bees were happily out working during the warmer weather, frantic to get as much done as possible.
Grape hyacinth are kind of a weed, but I love them! |
And this chubby bumble bee loves them too!! |
Just enough of a breeze that if you face in to the wind, your ears will lift! |
This honey bee is buried deep in to the cherry blossom. |
And this gal is working on the apricot tree. |
There was lots of coming and going! I don't know what I am going to do with this pioneer rose. It's taking over the world. I tried to dig out the runners that were encroaching on the bee hive but wasn't able to make any progress. |

Such beautiful colors and those clouds! |
The coming week promises more warm days before another round of rain is predicted for the weekend. This spring has a been a good lesson in patience and acceptance of things that we can not change.
