Finish one and start another

We are in high energy mode to get the spring wheat seed in the ground.  Sunday I finished cultivating the acres we intend to plant and then later in the afternoon we started fertilizing.  We're hoping to have seed in the ground by the end of the week.

I was lucky this morning to have the service manager come out to the field with me to change a few worn cultivator points.   It's nice to have such a handy fellow around!

Then, deep breath and on to the next project!  But before we went to work this morning, this display of apricot blossoms caught me eye.  Sure hope it doesn't freeze.

Apricot blossoms.

Service manager changing the cultivator points.

These are so cool.  There is this special tool that you just fit over the point, whack it a couple times with the hammer and they pop off.  Then the new ones just slide on and when you hear a snap, you know you are good to go.

Here he is checking the points by crawling under the implement on his hands and knees.

Worn points that have been removed.

The new point is the one on the right.  After just a few acres, it will be shiny and bright like the one on the left.

And then, he even greased for me!

Here we are filling the first load of fertilizer....and we're off!

Arthur the tractor, and the fertilizer applicator and Bertha the truck.

And a happy farmer!
