January Snow Drifts

The beginning of this week we had another high wind event, with more snow, which of course, led to even bigger drifts around the yard, our lane, and on Rolinco Road.  The direction of the wind was slightly different than last week, modifying the drift patterns.

Last night was a full moon.  Yesterday morning the moon looked like the setting sun, it was so big and full and bright.  It was as if the sun was setting in the west, though it was the moon!

I'm going to split up these snow pictures in to a few different posts.  There are so many good images, that I can't decide which ones to leave off!  Too many to do all at once however, so here goes.....

This is not the sun setting!

Can you believe this is the moon!

The color of the snow is beginning to change because....

this was going on in the eastern sky!

Getting lower on the horizon.

So many colors other than white!
Doesn't this look like a sun set?  Amazing!

And now some images of some of the drifts around the house and yard and garden.

On Sunday it snowed, then we had a little freezing rain, then more snow.  On Monday the wind started to blow and it blew off the top snow layer, exposing the layer of ice.

The "outhouse drift"!

Everything is covered in a layer of ice.

My little Honeycrisp apple tree with each branch coated with ice.

Another shot of the "outhouse drift"!

A cool drift around the chicken house.

You can just barely see the plow at the base of the windmill.

Our front walk way.  I am NOT even going to attempt to shovel this out!

The view from the dining room couch.

This is what I see when I'm standing at the kitchen sink, looking out the dining room window.  It's so pretty.
