Vacation Day 1

Last week we did something very rare.  We took a vacation!  The SS Rolinco launched and set sail for Yellowstone National Park.  Reynald was there nearly 50 years ago when he was just a lad, but I had never been.  Our friends Crayton and Beth spearheaded the trip and we are so glad that they did.

The first day we made it to Fairmont Hot Springs in Montana.  We didn't take advantage of the hot springs however!

The SS Rolinco sets sail!
On our way to Fairmont that first day, we heard a loud explosion as we were driving, but nothing seemed amiss, until the next day when we were just outside Bozeman MT. and Reynald discovered that we had a flat tire on the inside duel of the SS.  We had stopped for fuel and were just ready to do a little shopping at Wheat Montana when he found the flat.  Fortunately, right across the street was Ron's Diesel Repair and Towing. Ron happened to have the correct size tire and the time to change it.

Our blown out tire.

Farmer Ron chatting it up with Tire Ron.  At one point Tire Ron suggested that Farmer Ron may need to go inside the SS Rolinco if he didn't stop offering help and advice on how to change a tire!

The new tire, ready for install.
We traveled on to Bozeman where we met my cousin Ann and her husband Tom for lunch.  They have lived in Bozeman for years and we can see why.  Other than great jobs for both of them, the scenery is amazing!  Bozeman is a wonderful college town, full of things to do, and they surrounding countryside provides endless outdoor activity opportunity.  Plus, Bozeman is home to a niffy quilt shop where Beth and I got in to a little trouble and the Hotel Baxter!

Because of our flat tire delay and considerable shopping in Bozeman, we arrived at West Yellowstone much later than anticipated.  We had spots reserved at the Grizzly RV park and got set up in time to fix our dinner and observe a great sunset.

  1. Bad luck on the flat --good luck on the timing. Glad to hear that you had a good time in Bozeman. Hope the rest of the trip goes well
