It was pretty nice today, though just a tad chilly. We are spraying our summer fallow with roundup as an aid to tillage. This process delays our cultivation operation by about a month.
My job is to haul the water to the sprayer. I have quite a bit of time between loads so I worked on pruning roses today. I made good progress but there's still quite a few to do....
As you can see, I try to get as many pruned canes in the wheel barrow as possible! If I drive slow to the compost pile, I don't loose too many!

The wheel barrow, fully loaded! |
I got side tracked by some of the blooming plants/shrubs in the yard and stopped to take a few photos.
Daffodils and bleeding heart. |
More bleeding heart. |
I really love this plant. I have a few scattered around the yard. |
More daffodils and bleeding heart growing among the old wagon hitch. |
This is a new shrub to my yard. It's called Quince. |
Here's a close up of the flower. I love that it is a bright red/orange color! |
The girls were out flying like mad today. Finally they are finding something that is blooming!
The girls were out in force today. So thirsty.... |
The weeping cherry tree is blooming happily. |
Busy bee, so happy to find a flower! |
Of course Baxter and Leo are a big help in the yard. Here they are playing!
Baxter is just waiting for Leo to make a move! |
And he did! And Baxter jumped!! |
Tomorrow is supposed to be windy again, so most likely there won't be any spraying happening, which is fine. There's always something else to do.
And, speaking of beautiful flowers, I received an email this morning from Paula Robison, alerting me to this article in the Boston Globe! Beautiful flowers and a beautiful flute player. Here's the link......
